Multipurpose
SkyLINK system for the
City of Kiev, Ukraine
During 2003 the Excedence Ministry located in the City of Kiev,
Ukraine, plans to set up a SkyLINK radio
network which will serve a number of measurement tasks of the
Ukrainian capital. Besides the need to install 10 GammaTRACER radio probes to survey the gamma level in
a 20 km zone, in a next step the integration of six of Positron
Technology's, Frankfurt - Ukraine, Kardon gate monitors are
planned for integration into the network. Technically this will be
possible due to Saphymo' new development of a
Universal Telemetry Platform (UTP) which allows to integrate other
sensors. A further requirement to also include sensors for gas
analysis is currently checked. The project will serve as a model for
other major cities in Ukraine.
NPP Ignalina plans for integration of further sensors into the
SkyLINK network
Since the year 2000 the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant operates a
SkyLINK network for radio transmission with
a number of 24 GammaTRACER probes. The
system ensures highest reliability and data integrity also at
temperatures as low as -40 °C surveying a terrain in a
30 km zone around the plant. Ignalina NPP stated that due to design
and fabrication of the system it provided the ability to install the
equipment in a fast, easy and cheap manner. In the year 2000 the
decision was taken under long-term cost-saving aspects. Due to the
reliable, maintenance free system operation it is now planned to find
more applications for SkyLINK in the frame
of decommissioning works where further sensors for other measurement
purposes can be integrated into the network.
Ukrainian NPP Yushno Ukrainska plans to operate a SkyLINK
system
During 1999 the Ukrainian NPP Rovenskaja, Rovno, was equipped with
a network of 40 GammaTRACER probes. Now
Saphymo's joint venture company Positron Technology, Frankfurt,
works on the contract for a SkyLINK radio
transmission system on Ukrainian grounds. According to Ukrainian
legislative rules a number of almost 60 probes are scheduled for
implementation. 10 probes shall be located in the inner circle of the
plant with extended measuring range, the other 50 shall survey an
area up to 34 km around the plant. The system in Yushno Ukrainska
will serve as a model for other Ukrainian NPPs to follow.
